Job summary

Mary Washington Healthcare is seeking a Surgical Tech to assist the operating room team with patient care and room preparation. Under supervision, you will communicate patient status changes and support the surgical team throughout procedures.

You will prepare OR rooms with instruments and supplies, maintain aseptic technique, and help with turnover between cases while contributing to infection control and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• AHA BLS Provider CPR required at hire.
• Graduate of OR Technology, Surgical Scrub Tech, or Surgical Technology (six months experience preferred) or LPN with OR experience or scrub/OR tech with 7+ years OR experience.
• Must become a Certified Surgical Technologist within 6 months of hire.
• Virginia Board of Medicine registration as Surgical Technologist required.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with the care team to form the patient plan of care.
• Communicates safe therapeutic care during perioperative care.
• Maintains and cares for equipment and supplies.
• Prepares OR rooms with instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment.
• Follows aseptic technique in opening sterile supplies and setup for procedures.
• Drapes patients and assists the surgical team during procedures.
• Assists in turnover of room between cases.
• Participates in infection control and quality improvement processes.
