Job summary

Mary Washington Healthcare seeks a Surgical Tech to support the operating room team by preparing rooms, maintaining aseptic technique, and assisting during procedures. You will collaborate with nurses and surgeons to ensure patient safety and efficient turnover between cases.

Ideal candidates have OR technology training or scrub experience, with CPR certification and CST eligibility/registration, and are prepared to obtain CST within six months.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• AHA BLS CPR required at hire.
• Graduate of OR Technology or Surgical Scrub/Tech program, or LPN with OR experience, or scrub/OR tech with 7 years in OR.
• Must become CST within 6 months and be registered with the Virginia Board of Medicine as a Surgical Technologist.

Responsibilities

• Collaboration with care team to form patient plans of care for perioperative patients.
• Communicate safe therapeutic care throughout perioperative experience.
• Prepare OR rooms with instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment.
• Maintain aseptic technique and assist during procedures.
• Turnover rooms between cases and ensure equipment readiness.
• Support changes to physician preference cards per surgeon requests.
• Contribute to infection control and quality improvement initiatives.
