Job summary

Martin County Hospital District in Texas seeks a skilled Registered Nurse with operating room experience to provide high‑quality perioperative care. The RN will assess patients, develop and implement care plans, and monitor responses throughout the care cycle.

Candidate must hold a Texas nursing license (or Nursing Compact state), complete BLS on hire, ACLS within 90 days, and PALS is preferred. Two years OR experience is desirable; CNOR credential is a plus.

Description
History:

Martin County Hospital District (MCHD) was organized in 1967 and has boundaries coterminous with Martin County, Texas. It is located in the heart of West Texas. Opened in 1949, the hospital was originally located near downtown Stanton. This facility served the community well for many years but was replaced with a state of the art 18 bed facility in 2012. The new facility is located on I20 and has been designated as a Critical Access Hospital.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

This professional staff person is responsible for performing assessments, developing a plan of care, implementing and evaluating the care. The RN administers medications and treatments as ordered by physicians and in keeping with the current clinical nursing practice. The RN is responsible for directing, monitoring and evaluating the care delegated to non-licensed personnel. As a member of the interdisciplinary care team, the RN works collaboratively with the other members to assure the safe and accurate delivery of care. In addition, the RN performs a range of technical services in a cross-functional mode to comprehensively serve patient needs. Assumes, under the direction of the Laboratory, responsibility for patient specimen testing, quality control, quality improvement, and equipment maintenance.

Requirements
Education:

Graduate of a School of Professional Nursing.

Licenses/Certificates:

Must have a license to practice professional nursing by the Texas Board of Nursing or licensure from a state within the Nursing Compact.

Successful completion of AHA approved courses in BLS upon hire.

ACLS certification required within 90 days of hire.

PALS is preferred.

Experience:

Two (2) years experience as a Professional Registered Nurse in a operating room environment preferred. Prior OR experience preferred. CNOR preferred.
