Job summary

Martin County Hospital District in Stanton, Texas seeks an experienced Registered Nurse to assume responsibility for the total nursing care, assessment, documentation, planning, implementation, evaluation, and discharge process for assigned patients.

The RN administers medications and treatments as ordered by physicians, directs and monitors care by certified staff, and cross-trains to all patient care departments to ensure adequate staffing and safe, high-quality care.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing.
  • Current RN license in Texas or a compact state.
  • CPR/BLS certification; ACLS/PALS preferred.
  • TNCC preferred.
  • One year hospital RN experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide total nursing care, assessment, documentation, planning, implementation, evaluation, and discharge for assigned patients.
  • Administer medications and treatments as ordered by physicians.
  • Direct and monitor care by non-licensed staff, ensuring safety and quality.
  • Cross-train across departments to ensure adequate staffing.

History

Martin County Hospital District (MCHD) was organized in 1967 and has boundaries coterminous with Martin County, Texas. It is located in the heart of West Texas. Opened in 1949, the hospital was originally located near downtown Stanton. This facility served the community well for many years but was replaced with a state of the art 18 bed facility in 2012. The new facility is located on I20 and has been designated as a Critical Access Hospital.

Summary Of Responsibilities

Has principle responsibility for the total nursing care, assessment, documentation, planning, implementation, evaluation, and discharge process of each assigned patient to attain optimal health and continuity of care. The RN administers medications and treatments as ordered by physicians and in keeping with the current clinical nursing practice. The RN is responsible for directing, monitoring, and evaluating care delegated to non-licensed personnel ensuring that the plan of care is carried out in a safe environment. Cross-trains to all patient care departments to ensure adequate staffing levels.

Requirements
Education
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing
Licenses/Certificates
  • Current Registered Nurse license certified by the State of Texas or licensure from a state within the nursing compact required.
  • Hold current CPR/BLS or obtain upon hire.
  • Credentials in an advanced cardiac life support course (e.g. ACLS or hospital equivalent) preferred
  • Credentials in a nationally recognized pediatric advanced life support course (e.g. PALS or ENPC) preferred
  • TNCC preferred
Experience
  • One (1) year experience as a Professional Registered Nurse in a hospital environment preferred.
