Job summary

North Carolina Specialty Hospital is seeking a PRN Registered Nurse for PreOp/PACU to deliver comprehensive, safe nursing care across the age continuum in a surgical setting. You will work under minimal supervision, guiding the team and possibly making decisions in the absence of the manager.

The role emphasizes adherence to policies, collaboration with the care team, and attention to evidence-based practices in perioperative care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing; Associates degree required, BSN preferred.
• Current licensure in the State of North Carolina or compact multi-state RN license required.
• BLS certification through AHA/ARC required upon hire.
• ACLS and PALS certifications through AHA/ARC must be obtained within 6 months of employment; both preferred on hire.
• Minimum 1 year perioperative nursing experience preferred; 1 year ICU/critical care experience required.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive, safe nursing care for patients across age continuum from 4 weeks to geriatric.
• Utilize nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation; direct or provide care.
• Supervise and guide team members; may authorize decisions in manager's absence.
• Coordinate discharge planning with care team; ensure readiness for discharge.
• Document patient care accurately in patient records per standards.
• Participate in performance improvement activities and care delivery system development.
