Job summary

The University of Southern California's Keck Hospital of USC is seeking a PACU Registered Nurse to join an interdisciplinary team. The RN will use the nursing process to provide therapeutic care, coordinate patient care and education for patients and families in a compassionate environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) required; grandfathered for hires before 12/2019.
• Minimum 1 year PACU experience or 1 year in a high-acuity ICU immediately prior to application.
• Excellent English communication skills (spoken, reading, writing).
• Knowledge of medical procedures including whole blood collection and apheresis per policies.
• Commitment to excellence in patient care and customer service.
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction and supervision.
• RN license – California Board of Registered Nursing.
• BLS Healthcare Provider certification (American Heart Association).
• Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) required within 30 days of hire (LA City only).
• ACLS Healthcare Provider (American Heart Association).
• PALS Healthcare Provider (American Heart Association).
• CCRN or CPAN preferred.

Responsibilities

• The PACU RN manages a variety of complex patient populations by utilizing evidence-based practice standards.
• Maintains physiological and behavioral functions while providing psychological and sociological support to patient and family during recovery.
• Forms care plans, delegates tasks based on scope of practice, and evaluates care effectiveness.
• Explains health treatment and educates patients and families.
• Acts as patient advocate and initiates changes to the care plan.
• Participates in professional practice development, quality improvement and departmental projects.
