Job summary

TAG MedStaffing is seeking a Perioperative Registered Nurse (RN) in Essex County, NJ for outpatient surgical settings. You will support preoperative patient preparation, monitor patients during perioperative care, and collaborate with surgical and anesthesia teams to ensure safe, high-quality care.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of perioperative nursing experience, holds an active NJ RN license, and possesses BLS/ACLS certifications.

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.
Active RN license in New Jersey is required.
Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
2+ years of nursing experience is required, preferring pre-op, PACU, or outpatient surgical nursing.
Strong perioperative knowledge in perioperative nursing, IV therapy, and post-anesthesia monitoring.

Responsibilities

Preoperative nursing: assess and prepare patients for surgery; review histories and vital signs; complete preoperative documentation.
Post-anesthesia care: monitor patients recovering from anesthesia; assess conditions and respond to changes.
Medication administration: establish IV access, administer meds/fluids, manage pain and nausea.
Patient education: educate patients and caregivers on preop prep, recovery, discharge instructions.
Care coordination: collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and nursing staff for safe transitions.
Patient safety: maintain documentation, follow infection prevention, participate in quality initiatives.
