Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama, is seeking an RN to join our perioperative services team. The role uses the nursing process to promote health and prevent illness in the operative setting, coordinating care with physicians and the care team.

The ideal candidate holds an accredited nursing degree and an RN license, with BLS; ACLS/PALS may be required depending on unit. This is a full-time position with various early and late shifts, and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Nursing program required.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
• Licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required.
• Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) may be required depending on unit/department.

Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process to provide care and/or counsel individuals in the operative setting for health promotion and disease prevention.
• Coordinate and manage all aspects of nursing care in the operative setting with timely and cost-effective delivery.
• Collaborate with the patient, family, and health care team to deliver patient care under licensed physician, psychologist, podiatrist, and/or dentist supervision.
