Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, seeks a Registered Nurse OR to provide nursing care for a designated patient group using the nursing process.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited Nursing Program.
• Licensed RN in NYS and BLS certification.
• Strong communication and clinical skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs other duties as aligned with the mission and values of the organization.
• Demonstrates personal accountability for own professional practice and growth.
• Documents patient assessment, reassessment, progress toward goals and all required documentation accurately and timely.
• Promotes patient safety and quality including adherence to National Patient Safety Goals.
• Communicates and collaborates effectively with health care team, escalating situations appropriately.
• Establishes effective caring relationships with staff, patients, families and other team members.
• Administers medication and parenteral therapy per policy, including blood administration.
• Sets priorities for patient care and coordinates duties independently or with delegation.
• Provides patient/family education and assists in discharge planning, considering readiness barriers.
• Demonstrates knowledge to provide nursing care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and age-related criteria.
