Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Perioperative Registered Nurse (RN) to provide intraoperative care in a 6-suite operating room. The role requires thorough nursing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for each patient.

Basic requirements include English proficiency, graduation from an accredited nursing program, and current RN licensure in the United States. BSN preferred; CNOR and scrub experience are advantageous.

Qualifications

• English language proficiency is required for direct patient care.
• Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by accrediting bodies (ACEN/CCNE) or equivalent pathways per VA guidance.
• Current, full, active, and unrestricted RN registration in a U.S. state or territory.
• GNT exception allows temporary appointment while pursuing licensure in some cases.
• Foreign nursing education requires degree equivalency validation from recognized evaluator.

Responsibilities

• Administer intraoperative nursing care to surgical patients in the OR.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for each patient throughout the perioperative period.
• Ensure adherence to VA qualification standards and maintain professional licensure.
