Job summary

Carle Health is seeking an RN First Assist (RNFA) to support surgeons in the operating room, perform perioperative assessments, and participate in postoperative care. The role emphasizes independent nursing activities within perioperative care and collaboration with the surgical team.

The RNFA will scrub and circulate as needed, manage supplies, and educate patients and families on procedures and aftercare. A CNOR and valid RN license are required with perioperative nursing experience.

Qualifications

• Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) in IL per IDFPR.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days per AHA.
• Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeon in general and specialized surgeries with OR team readiness.
• Provide patient care and support.
• Administer medications.
• Scrub and circulate based on unit needs.
• Prepare supplies and assist in turnover and inventory management.
• Educate patient and family on operation and aftercare.
