Job summary

Lee's Summit Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for an Endo GI PRN role. You will evaluate patients pre-op, educate families, and manage IV therapy, preop medications, and site verification, while leading care in a collaborative OR team.

You will perform surgical site verification, respond to emergencies, and deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care, documenting changes and educating patients about procedures and follow-up care.

Qualifications

• RN is required.
• ACLS must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
• BLS must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process.
• Prepare patients, including IV therapy, preoperative meds, and surgical site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification per hospital policy.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care with evidence-based practices.
• Collaborate with a dynamic interdisciplinary team.
• Apply nursing process with critical thinking and leadership.
• Monitor patient condition and document changes thoroughly.
• Educate patients and families about medical condition, treatment and follow-up.
