Job summary

Lee's Summit Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Endoscopy/GI Lab on a PRN basis. You will evaluate patients pre-operatively, provide education to patients and families, and prepare patients with IV therapy, medications, and site verification.

You will participate in site verification, respond to emergencies, and work within an interdisciplinary team to deliver safe, evidence-based care and continuous process improvements.

Qualifications

• RN license (or compact state license) is required.
• ACLS certification must be obtained within 6 months of start date.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 30 days of start date.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process.
• Prepare patients including IV therapy, pre-operative meds, and site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification per hospital policy.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care with evidence-based practices.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team for patient care and workflow improvement.
• Apply nursing process, critical thinking, and leadership to deliver safe care.
• Assess patient condition and document changes throughout shift.
• Educate patients and families about medical condition, treatment and follow-up.
