Job summary

Rhode Island Hospital in Providence seeks a skilled RN to provide peri-operative nursing in the Operating Room, acting as scrub or circulating nurse and delivering post-anesthesia care as needed.

Under supervision, you will review charts, administer meds, start IVs, maintain sterile technique, monitor vitals, and communicate with surgeons and anesthesiologists to ensure safe, efficient care in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island by the Rhode Island Board of Nursing or licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact agreement.

Responsibilities

• Renders professional nursing care to peri-operative patients including review of patients' charts, administration of medications, starting IVs and hanging blood, ECG, venipuncture, catheterization and other treatments.
• Initiates or participates in life-saving procedures including CPR as necessary.
• Plans and implements nursing care for assigned patients and evaluates treatment suitability with physician guidance.
• Reviews charts and ensures pre-operative medications and orders are carried out; verifies patient identity prior to surgery.
• Assists during procedures as scrub or circulator; maintains sterile technique and supports post-anesthesia care.
• Monitors patient condition, vital signs, ventilates and suction as needed; determines stability and arranges transfer.
• Maintains and communicates patient information and supports training of staff; pursues ongoing professional development.
