Job summary

The role requires an Associate degree (Bachelor's preferred) and a New Jersey nursing license. At least 1 year of perioperative experience is preferred; scrubbing experience is a plus. Excellent communication and computer skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Associates degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• New Jersey Nursing License required.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provides total, comprehensive care to patients by applying the perioperative nursing process in an organized and systematic manner according to institutional policy and patient safety principles.
• Collaborates with patient, family and ancillary departments to form a multidisciplinary team delivering continuous, well-coordinated care.
• Communicates plan of care, patient progress, discharge plan and relevant information to the health care team.
• Demonstrates knowledge of anesthesia administration and responds quickly in emergencies.
• Transfers patient per prescribed plan and maintains a sterile field; performs surgical counts per policy.
• Dispenses drugs and solutions according to policy; manages care of the surgical patient.
• Provides required equipment and supplies based on patient needs; excellent communication and computer skills are essential.
