Job summary

TriStar Southern Hills Medical Center in Nashville area is seeking nurses for a 5-month Nurse Residency Internship designed for RNs with no OR experience to build intra-operative skills. The program features didactic and hands-on learning with preceptors and a cohort of peers.

You will begin as a staff employee and progress through competency validation, with opportunities for advanced pathways after orientation. Hours are five 8-hour days, with schedule flexibility after the program.

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• RN license (Registered Nurse) is required to begin the program.
• Associate Degree, RN Diploma, or Bachelor's Degree are acceptable educational backgrounds for this program.
• At least 1 year of RN experience is required, any specialty.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the perioperative process.
• Assume responsibility for patient preparation, including IV therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification, including briefing, timeout, debriefing, and universal protocols.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while integrating evidence-based practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team.
