Job summary

TriStar Southern Hills Medical Center is offering a Nurse Residency Internship designed for licensed RNs with no prior operating room experience. The program prepares nurses for the intra-operative environment through didactic and clinical hours in the facility of hire.

Open to new graduates or experienced nurses with non-surgical backgrounds, the internship includes a 5-month track with five 8-hour days, preceptor support, and cohort-based orientation across Nashville-area TriStar facilities.

Qualifications

• Active nursing license in good standing for TN or KY is required to begin the program.
• Program welcomes new graduates or experienced RNs with a non-surgical background.
• This Nurse Residency Internship focuses on perioperative foundational skills for the operating room.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and prepare patients for surgery in collaboration with the preceptor.
• Deliver patient education about perioperative processes and care.
• Assist with circulating and scrubbing roles as assigned during rotations.
• Assist in maintaining sterile technique and operating room readiness.
• Document care, monitor patient progress, and communicate with the surgical team.
• Participate in competency validation and orientation checklists with managers and educators.
