Job summary

TriStar Centennial Medical Center is offering a Nurse Residency Program designed to train licensed RNs with no operating room experience to work in the intra-operative environment. The program welcomes new graduates and experienced nurses from non-surgical backgrounds and will provide didactic and clinical hours in the facility of hire.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing for the state of hiring facility (Tennessee or Kentucky).
• Associate Degree in Nursing or higher required.
• BLS/ACLS or equivalent certification as applicable.
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required in any specialty.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery and determine readiness for perioperative care.
• Provide patient and family education surrounding perioperative processes.
• Prepare patients and administer preoperative medications as directed.
• Assist in surgical site verification and time-out procedures.
• Support intraoperative nursing roles including circulating and scrub responsibilities as assigned.
• Monitor patient condition during shift and document changes thoroughly.
• Collaborate with anesthesia, surgeons, and hospital staff to ensure patient safety.
• Participate in orientation and training activities with preceptors and educators.
• Attend required classroom lectures, simulations, and skills days as part of the residency.
• Contribute to a team-based approach focused on perioperative excellence.
