Job summary

HCA Healthcare offers a Nurse Residency Program designed for licensed Registered Nurses with no prior operating room experience to train within the intra-operative setting. The program spans five months and emphasizes foundational perioperative skills through didactic learning, simulations, and clinical practice at the resident’s hired facility.

Residents will complete shifts typically five 8-hour days, with preceptors and instructors guiding progress, competency validation, and orientation

Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing
• Associate Degree in Nursing or equivalent
• ACLS, BCLS and PALS certifications required or obtainable within stated timeframes
• At least 1 year of RN experience recommended or required in some settings

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery
• Provide patient and family education regarding peri-operative process
• Assist with patient preparation and surgical readiness
• Participate in surgical site verification and time-out procedures
• Educate patients and families about medical condition, treatment and follow-up measures
