Job summary

MaineGeneral Health is seeking an experienced RN leader to join the Perioperative Services team as a Nurse Supervisor. You will lead perioperative staff, support safe, efficient patient care, and collaborate with physicians, anesthesia providers, and multidisciplinary teams to optimize the surgical experience.

Qualifications

• RN licensure in Maine or ability to obtain quickly
• Perioperative/surgical services experience
• Previous leadership experience (charge nurse or similar)
• Perioperative leadership or supervisory experience
• Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple demands in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent written and oral communication
• Proven collaboration with physicians, anesthesia providers, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership, coaching, and mentoring to staff.
• Responds to staff requests for assistance with direct patient care in complex situations.
• Coordinates patient flow between units to maximize resources and meet service levels.
• Evaluates the effectiveness of patient care and identifies issues affecting outcomes.
• Coordinates patient care with staff, physicians, and other departments.
• Responds to complaints and conflicts and manages through established channels.
• Makes administrative decisions in the absence of the Department Manager/Director.
