Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health seeks a Registered Nurse to assess, plan, implement and supervise patient care on a nursing unit. The RN will work under the Nurse Manager/Clinical Coordinator and may serve as Charge Nurse or Preceptor. Responsibilities include care planning, team coordination, and patient education.

Must hold Connecticut RN license and BLS certification; BSN preferred. Experience in Medical, Surgical, Oncology, and Chemotherapy is valued. On-site position with standard nursing shifts.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
• Proficient with computer software including electronic patient records; internet literature searches.
• Connecticut RN license required.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient's physical and psychosocial condition on an ongoing basis and update the care plan.
• Develop and document an individualized care plan with patient/family and healthcare team.
• Coordinate care with the healthcare team and other units; supervise unit activities as needed.
• Plan for education after assessing learning needs and readiness of patient and family.
• Function as a Preceptor to new staff and as Charge Nurse as assigned.
• Administer chemotherapy according to established protocols and ensure safety.
