Job summary

Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor is seeking a Perioperative Technician to support the OR team and assist in delivering patient care. The role includes room prep, instrument handling, and coordination with nursing staff to ensure smooth surgical workflows.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma and some medical care experience, with emphasis on teamwork, reliability, and physical stamina in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.
• Experience in OR or patient care settings is preferred.
• Progressive knowledge of methods, procedures, materials and equipment in designated areas is necessary.

Responsibilities

• Maintain room cleanliness before and after surgical procedures.
• Assist with preparation of operating room including retrieval of monitors and beds and related equipment.
• Ensure availability of instruments and supplies needed for cases and assist with opening supplies.
• Assist nursing staff in preparing patient for surgery including lifting, positioning and prepping.
• Delivery of blood products and specimens to appropriate location.
• Pick daily cases according to scheduled operative time and urgency.
• Maintain unit environment including cores, rooms, scrub areas and hallways.
• Return instruments and unused supplies after case completion or cancellation.
• Assist with transportation of patients as needed and respond to emergencies.
