Job summary

TriHealth is seeking a Perioperative Assistant to join the Operating Room team at Bethesda North Hospital. This full-time day shift role supports anesthesia and nursing staff in a fast-paced perioperative setting.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, basic sterile technique, and 1–2 years of healthcare experience. Responsibilities include patient transport, supply management, infection control, and assisting with patient flow.

Responsibilities

• Safely transports patients using stretchers, beds, and wheelchairs.
• Performs supply, equipment, and environmental tasks including stocking and quality checks.
• Maintains a safe and clean environment by following infection control policies.
• Supports patient flow by completing clerical tasks and communicating patient information.
• Assists with positioning, prepping, and discharging patients under RN direction.
• Assists with dressing/undressing and vital signs in Same Day Surgery/PACU.

Minimum Job Requirements:

• High School Degree or GED

Job Overview:

The Perioperative Assistant for the Operating Room reports to the Chief Surgical Asistant - GSH, Nurse Manager. The perioperative Assistant for the Sameday Surgery/PACU reports to the Nursing Manager. The perioperative Assistant for all areas is supervised by the cheif surgical assistant, nursing manager, and charge nurse. The perioperative assistant performs assigned duties related to providing assistance as a team member within the assigned perioperative department to anesthesia or nursing staff.

Job Responsibilities:

• Safely and promptly transports patients using stretchers, beds, and wheelchairs.
• Performs supply, equipment, and environmental tasks, including stocking, maintaining PAR levels, completing quality checks, and reporting issues or equipment malfunctions.
• Maintains a safe and clean environment by following infection control policies, reporting hazards, and assisting housekeeping with room preparation.
• Supports patient flow by completing clerical tasks, communicating patient information, and updating the RN on completed duties.
• Assists with positioning, prepping, and discharging patients under RN direction while performing tasks within trained competency.
• In Same Day Surgery, assists with dressing/undressing, lifting/turning, clipping patients, obtaining vital signs and EKGs, performing accuchecks, documenting in the EMR, toileting, and escorting patients to their vehicle.
