Job summary

TriHealth Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati is seeking a Full Time Lead Surgical Assistant to coordinate daily surgical operations, scheduling, supply and equipment management, and staff training. Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved surgical assistant program with professional certification(s).
  • SA-C, CSA, CSFA or CRNFA credentials preferred.
  • PA-C credential acceptable where applicable.
  • Certification in surgical technology or central sterile processing is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Supports and implements the patient care delivery system for specialty areas.
  • Anticipates the needs of the surgical team and coordinates plan of care with anesthesia and surgeon.
  • Maintains knowledge through self-study, workshops, in-service and specialty certification.
  • Coaches and supports staff development with perioperative leadership.
  • Coordinates schedules and communicates with physicians and sales reps for supplies, instrumentation and equipment needs.
  • Assists with capital and routine service line expenditures.

Education

Job Overview

The Lead Surgical Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring exceptional patient care and operational excellence within the surgical specialty. This position is responsible for coordinating and overseeing daily surgical operations, including procedure scheduling, supply and equipment management, staff training, and communication across multidisciplinary teams. Working collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nursing staff, and leadership. This role serves as a clinical and operational leader in the operating room, promoting teamwork, resource stewardship, and adherence to best practices while fostering a culture of collaboration and patient-centered care. .

Job Responsibilities

  • Accesses future schedules and coordinates with physicians and sales reps. for supplies, instrumentation and equipment needs.
  • Assists with coordination of both capital and routine service line expenditures.
