Job summary

UT Health San Antonio seeks an Anesthesia Technician to support anesthesia providers in perioperative spaces at UT MSRH. You will prepare, sterilize, maintain, and stock anesthesia supplies and equipment, and assist during procedures.

The role requires confidentiality, strong communication, and professionalism in a fast-paced operating room. Experience preferred; team-oriented, safety-conscious, and adaptable in dynamic settings.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• One year of anesthesia technician experience preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality in healthcare.
• Professional conduct and coping skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain anesthesia supplies preoperatively and postoperatively (cleaning, packaging, inventorying).
• Check and stock anesthesia machines and carts; replace gases; disinfect equipment; prepare transducers.
• Assist anesthesia providers for perioperative procedures.
• Retrieve special anesthesia supplies as requested by providers.
• Ensure machines are ready for use; perform daily inspections of equipment.
• Assist during intubation/extubation and manage IVs/arterial/central lines.
• Dispose of contaminated materials and disinfect equipment per OR biohazard policies.
• Set up disposable materials for autotransfusion when needed.
• Assist in room turnover and troubleshoot equipment with biomed/engineering.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
