Inova Alexandria Hospital - Perianesthesia is seeking a dedicated Patient Access Associate for a part-time evening shift, 2:30pm–7:30pm, Monday–Friday. You will staff the Same-Day Surgery waiting area, admit patients, verify identifications and insurance, and assist across departments with scheduling and basic inquiries.

The role emphasizes HIPAA compliance, patient-centric service, and teamwork, with benefits and opportunities common to Inova Health System facilities in the D.C. metro area.

Formación

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year customer service or 1 year in healthcare setting preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Register patients, verify identity and insurance, collect basic information and enter demographics.
• Assist with EMR use, eligibility checks, phone inquiries and documentation.
• Handle check-in, scheduling, referrals, and basic patient transport coordination.
• Provide financial counseling, estimates and payment collection.
• Maintain HIPAA and OSHA compliance and escalate issues as needed.

Inova Alexandria Hospital - Perianesthesia is looking for a dedicated Patient Access Associate to join our team. This role will be part-time evening shift, 2:30pm-7:30pm, Monday- Friday. As a Patient Access Associate, you will adhere to Inova Health System's "Service Excellence" standards while staffing the Same-Day Surgery waiting area, admit patients, directing patient to the correct department, and additional projects. Patient Access Associate Job Responsibilities:

• Patient Intake, Registration and Documentation: Registers patients, verifies identity and insurance, collects basic information, enters demographics, and scans forms.
• Administrative & Technology Operations: Scans documents, answers phones, and uses electronic medical record (EMR) and eligibility tools.
• Case Management Tasks: Notifies case managers and documents referrals.
• Financial Counseling: Provides estimates and collects payments.
• Insurance & Contract Coordination: Verifies basic eligibility and coverage.
• Inquiries & Patient Concerns: Answers routine questions and escalates issues.
• Kiosk: Assists with check-in and troubleshoots basic issues at patient kiosks.
• Patient Communication & Advocacy: Provides appointment and billing information and offers empathy.
• Referrals: Documents and routes referrals.
• Scheduling: Schedules routine appointments.
• Transport: Requests routine transport and confirms details.
• Health Information Management (HIM) Coordination: Flags duplicate records and scans identification.
• Utilization Review Coordination: Flags cases needing review.
• Compliance: Ensures compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and other applicable federal and state regulations.
• May perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: High School Diploma or GED

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1 year customer service experience or 1 year' experience in a healthcare setting.
