Dignity Health - Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria, CA, seeks a skilled Sonographer to perform advanced ultrasound imaging for prenatal and diagnostic care. You will interact with patients, explain procedures, and prepare them for scans while ensuring safety and comfort.

The role requires extensive ultrasound experience, OB specialization, and competency with imaging systems and PACS. On-site work with potential on-call duties in a high-volume hospital setting.

Qualifications

  • 2–5 years experience performing Ultrasound procedures.
  • 2 years high-risk/level II OB Ultrasound including Fetal Echo.
  • US guided invasive fetal procedures including amniocentesis and CVS.
  • Basic Life Support - CPR (American Heart Association).
  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer / CDI / ARRT/SMT credentials listed upon hire.
  • AIUM certification experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures per department standards and physician orders.
  • Operate ultrasound equipment, computers, and accessories.
  • Demonstrate competency in imaging processing procedures (PACS).
  • Identify life-threatening conditions and troubleshoot equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain and update the patient log daily.
  • Respond to STAT exams and be reliable when on-call.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Sonographer, you will utilize advanced sonographic equipment to record detailed images of blood, organs, tissues, and bodily masses, including unborn fetuses, providing critical visual data for diagnosis and prenatal care.

Every day you will directly interact with patients, explaining procedures, answering questions, and preparing them for scans. You will meticulously operate sonographic equipment, adjusting settings and patient positions to ensure clear, diagnostic images. You will monitor and care for patients to ensure their safety and comfort, select and examine images for pathologies, and present preliminary findings to Physicians.

To be successful in this role, you will possess excellent patient service and communication skills, sharp eyesight, and meticulous attention to detail. You will demonstrate strong technical proficiency, sound judgment, and advanced decision-making skills to effectively capture and interpret sonographic data, ensuring optimal diagnostic support.

  • Performs diagnostic and therapeutic ultrasound procedures in accordance with department standards, and in keeping with the orders of the referring physician.
  • Operates all ultrasound equipment, computers, and accessories.
  • Demonstrates competency in imaging processing procedures (PACs).
  • Identifies and initiates accurate assessment of life-threatening conditions. Troubleshoots equipment and cooperates with service personnel in order to maintain minimal down time.
  • Maintains and updates the patient log on a daily basis.
  • Responds to changes in work schedule and STAT exams, and demonstrates reliability and proximity when on-call.
Job Requirements
Required
  • Technical School Graduation from an accredited school of Ultrasound and 2-5 years experience performing Ultrasound procedures., upon hire and
  • 2 years high-risk/level II OB Ultrasoundincluding Fetal Echo. and
  • Experienced with US guided invasive fetal proceduresincluding amniocentesis and CVS and
  • Basic Life Support - CPR (must be from the American Heart Association), within 30 Days and
  • Registered Cardiac Electr, upon hire or
  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist, upon hire or
  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer CCI, upon hire or
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, upon hire or
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Abdomen, upon hire or
  • Registered Technologist Computed Tomography, upon hire or
  • Registered Technologist Radiography ARRT, upon hire or
  • Registered Vascular Specialist, upon hire or
  • Registered Vascular Technologist, upon hire
Preferred
  • Experience with AIUM certification process
