Job summary

CommonSpirit Health's Dignity Health Pacific Central Coast Health Centers in California seeks a Sonographer to record detailed ultrasound images of blood, organs, and fetal anatomy, supporting prenatal care.

You will explain procedures, position patients, and ensure comfort, while operating equipment, selecting images, and reviewing findings for physicians.

Qualifications

  • Two years high-risk OB ultrasound experience including Fetal Echo.
  • US-guided invasive fetal procedures experience (amniocentesis, CVS).
  • Basic Life Support - CPR certification.
  • Registered professional credentials (e.g., ARDMS/RDMS or equivalent).

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures per physician orders.
  • Operate ultrasound equipment, PACs, and accessories.
  • Identify and assess pathologies; select and review images.
  • Ensure patient safety and comfort during scanning.
  • Document exams and maintain logs daily.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Sonographer, you will utilize advanced sonographic equipment to record detailed images of blood, organs, tissues, and bodily masses, including unborn fetuses, providing critical visual data for diagnosis and prenatal care.

Every day you will directly interact with patients, explaining procedures, answering questions, and preparing them for scans. You will meticulously operate sonographic equipment, adjusting settings and patient positions to ensure clear, diagnostic images. You will monitor and care for patients to ensure their safety and comfort, select and examine images for pathologies, and present preliminary findings to Physicians.

To be successful in this role, you will possess excellent patient service and communication skills, sharp eyesight, and meticulous attention to detail. You will demonstrate strong technical proficiency, sound judgment, and advanced decision-making skills to effectively capture and interpret sonographic data, ensuring optimal diagnostic support.

  • Performs diagnostic and therapeutic ultrasound procedures in accordance with department standards, and in keeping with the orders of the referring physician.
  • Operates all ultrasound equipment, computers, and accessories.
  • Demonstrates competency in imaging processing procedures (PACs).
  • Identifies and initiates accurate assessment of life‑threatening conditions.
  • Troubleshoots equipment and cooperates with service personnel in order to maintain minimal down time. Initiates service calls on all equipment assigned to the area.
  • Charges exams and supplies on a daily basis when work is completed. Maintains and updates logs and documentation on a daily basis.
Job Requirements

Required:

  • Two (2) years high-risk/level II OB Ultrasound including Fetal Echo.
  • Experienced with US guided invasive fetal procedures including amniocentesis and CVS
  • Basic Life Support - CPR
  • One of the following: Registered Cardiac Electr, Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist, Registered Cardiac Sonographer CCI, Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Abdomen, Registered Technologist Computed Tomography, Registered Technologist Radiography ARRT, Registered Vascular Specialist, Registered Vascular Technologist
Preferred
  • Experience with AIUM certification process
