Job summary

Impact Life in Sussex County, Delaware, is seeking a dedicated Peer Support Doula to provide trauma-informed, non-clinical support to pregnant and postpartum individuals affected by SUD, trauma, or justice involvement. This role blends peer support with doula care to promote empowerment and connect participants with community resources.

The position requires CPRS certification and offers support to obtain it, along with potential doula certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current CPRS certification or willingness to pursue CPRS certification after eligibility requirements.
• Commitment to CPRS training, supervision, and timelines.
• Ability to apply peer-support principles including empowerment and respect.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to maintain participant confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.
• Willingness to travel locally to participant appointments.

Responsibilities

• Provide emotional, informational, and non-clinical support to perinatal participants affected by SUD, trauma, or justice involvement.
• Mentor and model recovery and wellness using peer-support principles; connect participants with community resources.
• Attend prenatal appointments, birthing experiences, and postpartum visits as appropriate.
• Offer non-clinical comfort measures and support throughout the perinatal period.
• Maintain professional boundaries and adhere to organizational policies and ethical standards.
• Document services accurately and maintain participant confidentiality.
• Participate in supervision, training, and team meetings for quality improvement.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers and community organizations to support continuity of care.
• Travel locally to participant appointments and service locations.
