Job summary

Impact Life in New Castle County, Delaware is seeking a Peer Support Doula to provide trauma-informed, non-clinical support to pregnant and postpartum individuals affected by SUD, trauma, or justice-system involvement, combining peer support with doula care throughout the perinatal period.

The role requires CPRS certification (Impact Life will support) and may include travel to participant appointments; professional doula certification is supported after employment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current CPRS certification or willingness to pursue.
• Commitment to CPRS training, supervision and timelines.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Provide emotional, informational, and non-clinical support to pregnant and postpartum participants affected by SUD, trauma, or justice-system involvement.
• Utilize peer-support principles to offer mentorship, model recovery and wellness, foster hope, and support participants in preparing for birth and navigating healthcare systems.
• Attend prenatal appointments, birthing experiences, and postpartum visits as appropriate and within scope.
• Provide non-clinical comfort measures and support throughout the perinatal period within peer and doula services.
• Maintain professional boundaries and ensure services align with policies and ethical standards.
• Accurately document services and maintain participant confidentiality per laws and policies.
• Participate in supervision, ongoing training, team meetings, and quality-improvement activities.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers, community organizations, and internal teams to support participant care and continuity of services.
• Travel locally to participant appointments and service locations as required.
