Hackensack Meridian Health seeks a Registered Nurse - Perinatal Educator to support maternal child health education and direct care within an interdisciplinary team. This per diem role is ideal for nurses passionate about education and patient-centered care, based in Edison, NJ.

The incumbent will perform comprehensive assessments, develop and implement care plans, educate patients and families, and coordinate with the healthcare team while utilizing bar-scanning medication administration.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Childbirth Education Certification from CCES, Lamaze International, PCE, etc.
• Minimum 5 years of RN work experience, preferably in Maternal Child Health.
• Current NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License and Educator certification.

Responsibilities

• Collect comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or situation.
• Perform age and disease specific assessments independently.
• Recognize clinical and diagnostic status changes in patient status.
• Identify patient/family education needs based on age and cultural differences.
• Develop a plan of care with strategies and interventions to attain expected outcomes.
• Communicate, coordinate, and implement the plan of care.
• Provide ongoing communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Administer medications utilizing advancements in bar-scanning technology.
• Evaluate progress toward attainment of outcomes.
• Identify ethical issues in the practice setting and address them with the team.
