Job summary

Yale New Haven Health is seeking a Perinatal Educator to provide education to patients preparing for birth and early parenting. You will collaborate with the Childbirth Education Coordinator to ensure current, high-quality curriculum and support families through the prenatal period.

The role requires strong communication, adult learning principles, and professional licensure. Minimum 2 years in Maternal Child Health with perinatal education preferred; CPR certification is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree Preferred.
• Greater than 2 years clinical experience in Maternal Child Health; Perinatal Education experience preferred.
• Certification in American Heart Association CPR.
• Current professional license/certification as appropriate for the teaching assignment.
• National Certification in Childbirth Education Preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates a strong understanding of adult learning principles, current clinical care, and leadership.
• Establishes a professional rapport and empowers patients to make informed decisions.
• Assesses participants' understanding and adapts instruction to benefit them.
• Contributes feedback to update program content and needs.
• Facilitates critical thinking, problem solving, and communication skills among students.
• Promotes ongoing professional development and attends relevant conferences.
• Collaborates with the Childbirth Education Coordinator to ensure appropriate level of instruction.
• Reviews class content to reflect current practice and evidence.
• Serves as a resource for staff on community prenatal services.
• Encourages interdepartmental collaboration to meet department goals.
