Job summary

Fairview Health Services is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Perianesthesia team at the University of Minnesota Medical Center East Bank in Minneapolis, MN. This 0.8 FTE position includes rotating day/evening shifts and 8‑hour shifts, with on‑call requirements and weekend coverage.

The Perianesthesia RN will assess patients, coordinate care with the health care team, and provide pre‑admission calls, day of surgery admissions, and Phase 2 discharge education.

Qualifications

• MN RN Licensure
• 2 years of RN experience in Perianesthesia, PACU, ICU or ED
• Basic Life Support Certification through Health Care Providers

Responsibilities

• Assess patients and patient condition according to Perioperative Policy and Standards.
• Coordinate care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.
• Demonstrates ability to deliver care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served.
• Evaluates care, adapts interventions and prioritizes care based on patient assessment, uses resources to respond to emergency situations.
• Pre-admission phone calls, admissions day of surgery, monitoring and discharge education.
• Critical care skills including airway and hemodynamic management and pain control.
• Cultivates a culture of improvement, efficiency and innovative thinking.
• Perform responsibilities in accordance with MN Nurse Practice Act.
