Job summary

UVA Health’s Non-OR Anesthesia Nursing Team seeks a registered nurse to provide comprehensive peri-anesthesia care in procedural settings outside the operating room. Based at University Hospital, you’ll coordinate pre-procedure prep, intra-procedure collaboration, and post-anesthesia recovery across Radiology and Brachytherapy at the Cancer Center.

This full-time role supports a Monday–Friday schedule (7:00 a.m.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• BSN required within 5 years of hire.
• 1 year of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive pre-anesthesia assessments (history, meds, allergies, vitals).
• Prepare patients for anesthesia and administer pre-anesthetic meds as indicated.
• Educate patients and families about anesthesia, procedures, recovery, and discharge.
• Collaborate with anesthesiologists, radiologists, and procedural teams for patient safety.
• Monitor patients through post-anesthesia recovery and identify need for intervention.
• Manage pain and potential post-procedure symptoms.
• Ensure patients/families understand discharge instructions and safety at home.
