Job summary

The Office of Inspector General for Public Safety (OIG) at the City of Seattle seeks a Performance Auditor to lead systemic reviews of SPD operations. The role involves audits, payroll analysis, surveillance technology use, and force-related applications.

Ideal candidates will have GAGAS experience, strong Excel skills, and the ability to communicate complex findings clearly to policymakers and the public. Hybrid schedule with in-office days.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience in professional auditing, compliance, law enforcement oversight or related field.
• A bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, auditing, IT systems administration, public administration or related field.
• A master’s degree may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Lead performance audits in accordance with GAGAS, including identifying criteria and risks, developing testing plans, and gathering evidence.
• Collect, evaluate, and interpret quantitative and qualitative data to support findings and recommendations.
• Conduct interviews with program officials and stakeholders and write accurate summaries.
• Articulate findings in public reports for policymakers, the public, and SPD.
• Assist with revisions to OIG audit policies, processes, and workplans.
• Assist other Audit team members with quality control reviews.
