Job summary

Swarm Aero is seeking a Perception & Sensor Fusion Engineer to develop algorithms that give the world's largest drone swarm an accurate, shared picture of the battlespace. You’ll tackle detection, tracking, state estimation, and onboard edge inference, turning complex data into actionable insight.

You will train and test ATR and tracking systems, design multi-sensor fusion and distributed estimation across the swarm, and optimize performance on resource-constrained hardware.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Math, or related field (or equivalent depth of experience).
• Demonstrated expertise in estimation theory and multi-target tracking (Kalman/particle filters, JPDA, MHT, RFS, or similar).
• Hands-on deep learning experience (training, evaluation, deployment of neural networks for detection/classification).
• Strong programming skills in C++, Rust, Go, and/or Python.
• Track record of taking algorithms from research to deployment on a real system.

Responsibilities

• Train, tune, and test ATR and tracking systems using the latest NN advances.
• Develop multi-sensor fusion and state estimation for onboard, edge compute on constrained hardware.
• Design distributed fusion to combine tracks across the swarm into a single picture.
• Rigorously characterize algorithm performance against real flight data and simulations.
• Optimize models for real-time inference on edge devices.
• Write clean, maintainable, efficient code.
• Travel up to 25% of the time for onsite test and integration events.
