Job summary

Spectrum 360 A NJ Non Profit Corp. is seeking a Per Diem Substitute/Per Diem Sub Van Aide to support transportation and classroom activities for students with special needs.

The role involves assisting the certificated staff, monitoring student behavior on district transportation, and aiding with instructional materials and documentation. The position requires at least a high school level education and prior experience with children is desirable.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade.
• Prior experience working with children is desirable but not required.
• Experience as a volunteer, instructional aide or other paid role is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Aids certificated personnel under supervision.
• Assist students before, during and after district transportation as assigned.
• Support bus/van driver in maintaining student conduct and safety.
• Ensure seat belts are fastened and assist wheelchair students on/off the vehicle.
• Provide written records of student violations to the transportation supervisor.
• Collect personal items left on the school bus for the secretary.
• Reinforce small group and individual instruction.
• Prepare instructional materials and assist with tests under teacher direction.
• Escort students and assist with restroom, playground and outdoor activities.
• Participate in student-related extracurricular activities with certificated staff.
• Communicate with Child Study Teams and assist with multimedia equipment.
• Provide minor clerical assistance and maintain records.
