Job summary

Akumin is seeking a PRN Ultrasound Technologist to perform diagnostic ultrasound exams and provide high-quality imaging for medical interpretation. The role requires flexibility to cover shifts as needed and to assist licensed practitioners in exams and procedures.

The position emphasizes patient confidentiality, adherence to HIPAA, and competence with EMR, PACS, and DICOM systems for image sharing. Prior ultrasound experience and proper credentials are required.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience required or preferred.
• High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
• Minimum ARRT (S) or ARDMS certification.
• CPR/BLS from AHA or ARC; ACLS where applicable.
• 1–2 years ultrasound experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic ultrasound exams and obtain high-quality images for interpretation.
• Identify normal and abnormal results and communicate summaries to physicians.
• Operate or assist in ultrasound equipment and maintain sterile technique.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA.
• Train and orient new technologists as needed and complete site competencies.
• Cover shifts as needed as a per-diem technologist.
