Job summary

Adventist Healthcare SC at National Harbor in Oxon Hill, MD is seeking a motivated Scrub Technician (PRN) to join our surgical team. You will help maintain a sterile environment, support surgeons and nurses during procedures, and contribute to safe, high‑quality patient care.

Requirements include completion of a post‑high school Surgical Technology program; CST or CORT certification preferred; one year of surgical experience; and BLS preferred.

Qualifications

• Completion of a post-high school Surgical Technology program.
• CST or CORT certification preferred.
• One year of experience in a surgical setting.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a sterile field and uphold all principles of aseptic technique.
• Assist the surgical team by passing instruments, supplies, sutures, and equipment.
• Prepare equipment, instruments, and operating rooms before procedures.
• Assist with scrubbing, gowning, and gloving for the surgical team.
• Prepare dressings and assist with postoperative bandage application.
• Operate, adjust, and monitor surgical and sterile processing equipment.
• Position and prepare patients for surgery while ensuring safety and comfort.
• Participate in instrument, sponge, and sharps counts.
• Clean and restock the operating room following procedures.
• Support compliance with accreditation and departmental standards.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient and center information.
• Assist with supply and equipment maintenance.
• Document accurately and in a timely manner.
• Respond quickly to changing patient or surgical needs.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
