American Geriatrics Society in Naperville, IL seeks an RN SANE Adult for per diem coverage at Edward Hospital. The role involves performing medical-forensic exams and evidence collection following Illinois guidelines, with emphasis on patient care and privacy.

You will collaborate with law enforcement and advocacy groups, provide crisis support and patient education, and participate in ongoing training as part of the SANE program.

Qualifications

• Completed IAFN accredited SANE A course for adults with IL clinical component.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care to sexual assault patients in hospital settings.
• Conducts physical assessment and forensic exams for sexual assault patients.
• Obtains evidence using Illinois State Police Evidence Collection Kit with required consents.
• Offers forensic photographs per guidelines; ensures privacy and consent.
• Identifies injuries requiring medical treatment and coordinates care.
• Maintains chain of custody of evidence and records.
• Documents assessments, evidence collection and interventions.
• Provides crisis intervention access to patients.
• Respects privacy and confidentiality; coordinates with law enforcement and advocacy groups.
• Educates patients about exams, procedures, treatment, STD and pregnancy prevention, and follow-up care.
• Participates in education of SANE nurses, law enforcement, providers, and community.
• Provides legal testimony on SANE cases when subpoenaed.
• Engages in ongoing professional growth within the SANE program.
