Job summary

UNC Health Care System is hiring a Clinical Nurse for the Cardiology and Oncology Stepdown Unit (COSU) at UNC Medical Center. The COSU is a 13-bed intermediate care unit offering professional growth and compassionate care.

Per diem with 12-hour shifts, 7am–7:30pm or 7pm–7:30am, on site in Chapel Hill, NC. The RN provides competent clinical nursing care, coordinates patient care using the nursing process, and reports to the Nurse Manager/Director.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a school of professional nursing.

Responsibilities

• Education - participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self; attends education programs based on needs.
• Evaluation of Care - identifies expected patient outcomes and discusses with interdisciplinary team.
• Implementation - provides care for patients with complex problems and follows nursing standards.
• Leadership - supports unit goals and interdepartmental collaboration; promotes safe care.
• Patient Assessment - prioritizes care and plans discharges.
• Planning - collaborates with patient/family to update the plan of care.
• Research - reads journals and shares applicable ideas.
