Job summary

Maine Veterans’ Homes – Scarborough is seeking Per Diem Registered Nurses to join our team and help meet weekend staffing needs. The RN will supervise direct care staff and ensure plans of care meet our quality standards in a warm, veteran-centered environment.

This flexible per diem role offers weekend availability with a base pay of $42.42/hr plus $4 evening, $5 night, and $2.50 weekend differentials, creating a meaningful opportunity for skilled RNs to support veterans and their families.

Qualifications

• Current Maine Registered Nurse license in good standing.
• Ability to understand and communicate verbally and in writing in English.
• Per diem weekend availability is required.
• Experience in long-term care or elderly care is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the activities of direct care staff and promote high-quality nursing services.
• Ensure plans of care are fulfilled according to Maine Veterans’ Homes standards.
• Provide weekend, holiday, and PTO coverage as per diem RN.

Our per diem RNs help provide coverage for weekends, holidays, and time-off requests for our full-time and part-time employees.

About the Role

The Registered Nurse (RN) supervises the activities of direct care staff and promotes the highest quality of nursing services. The RN helps ensure plans of care are fulfilled according to Maine Veterans’ Homes quality standards.

Per Diem Requirements

• Work an average of 8 hours per two-week pay period
• Work a minimum of 16 weekend hours per month
• Weekend availability is required

Requirements

• Current Maine Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
• Ability to effectively understand and communicate verbally and in writing in English
• Basic computer skills
