Job summary

Say Yes Buffalo Scholarship Inc. is seeking a Substitute Teacher to support classroom instruction on a per diem/as-needed basis in the absence of the Lead Teacher. The role ensures a safe, nurturing environment supporting social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of young children.

Responsibilities include following lesson plans, maintaining routines, and building positive relationships with children and families while adhering to OCFS Day Care regulations and school policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or CDA preferred.
• Experience with preschool-aged children (ages 3–5) preferred.
• Current Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain upon hire.
• OCFS background requirements completed.
• Ability to complete required health screenings and trainings.
• Knowledge of OCFS Day Care Regulations preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish skills highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Supports classroom instruction on a per diem basis in the absence of the Lead Teacher.
• Follows established lesson plans and routines to ensure continuity of learning.
• Builds positive, responsive relationships with children through respectful interactions.
• Implements behavior supports and social-emotional learning strategies.
• Prepares written summaries of work completed.
• Assists in maintaining an organized, developmentally appropriate environment.
• Greets families professionally during arrival and dismissal.
• Demonstrates culturally responsive practices, honoring diverse backgrounds.
• Maintains active supervision and follows health and safety procedures.
