Job summary

Say Yes Buffalo Scholarship Inc. is seeking a Substitute Teacher to support classroom instruction on a per diem basis in the absence of the Lead Teacher.

You will maintain a safe, nurturing environment that supports development across social, emotional, physical, and cognitive domains. You will work with the Lead Teacher or Assistant to implement lesson plans, uphold regulatory requirements, and foster a culture of play-based, equitable early childhood education.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education or CDA and classroom management experience.
• Experience working with preschool-aged children (ages 3–5).
• Current Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
• OCFS background requirements completed.

Responsibilities

• Support multiple classrooms and age groups as needed.
• Follow lesson plans and established routines.
• Document incidents and prepare written summaries.
• Maintain a safe, engaging, developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
• Greet families and communicate about child progress with Lead Teacher or Site Leadership.
• Uphold equity and culturally responsive practices.
