Job summary

NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital at NYU Langone Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician for a per diem float pool role within the LOH unit. The successful candidate will assist professional nurses in patient care, ensure safety and compassionate service, and support supplies, equipment and environment management.

Minimum qualifications include a PCT program graduate or CNA with EKG/Phlebotomy, or PCT certification with hospital experience, along with BLS/CPR certification.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent required.
• Graduate of a PCT program w/ at least 6 months hospital experience OR CNA with EKG & Phlebotomy course and PCT cert eligibility with 6 months hospital experience.
• BLS or Heartsaver CPR/AED certification required on entry to position.

Responsibilities

• Assist the nurse in patient care tasks and support patient safety and comfort.
• Maintain supplies, equipment and environment to uphold safety and quality standards.
• Support unit activities, participate in orientation and meetings, and document patient information as needed.
• Assist with admissions, transfers and discharges per unit procedures.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families and health care staff.
