Job summary

Shields Health Care Group is seeking a Patient Care Representative/Tech Aide for a per diem role at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, ME. You will greet patients, collect copays, assist with iPad check-in, and coordinate with technologists to maintain smooth patient flow.

The role emphasizes HIPAA compliance, confidentiality, accurate data entry, scheduling support, and responsive communication with patients and clinicians.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Must be CPR certified.
• Excellent communication skills and computer proficiency required.
• Attention to detail and typing accuracy required.
• Ability to follow instructions with minimal supervision.
• Proven ability to multi task and exceed customer expectations is required.
• Ability to sit for extended periods of time while simultaneously performing data entry and information intake via phone.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients, collect copay/deductible/coinsurance and explain forms.
• Assist patients with iPad check-in and trouble-shoot.
• Recognize when language services are needed.
• Distribute films/CDs while maintaining HIPAA and privacy policy.
• Collaborate with technologists/radiologists to ensure patient flow.
• Process mail and deliveries.
• Prepare setup for next day’s appointments and flag issues.
• Maintain confidentiality of all patient groups.
• Verify and enter information into systems.
• Respond to scheduling emergencies.
• Support with machine utilization by filling templates (waitlist/hold).
• Answer patient and doctor concerns professionally and accurately.
• Keep management informed of impactful situations.
• Stay current on policy changes.
• Assist in patient interview process and scan room prep.
• Maintain co pay/petty cash accuracy and daily deposits.
• Performs other related duties as required.
