Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required and strong customer service skills.
• Experience or knowledge of patient financial services, insurance processes, and collecting payments preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; ability to work in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Verifies patient demographics and inputs information into the EHR to maximize reimbursement and minimize denials.
• Assists with registration for inpatient, outpatient, and ancillary services; may cover multiple services including emergency and obstetrics.
• Explains insurance benefits and verifies coverage; obtains required authorizations and documents per CMS and payor guidelines.
• Communicates clearly with patients and families about financial responsibilities and payment options; documents interactions in the system.
• Submits timely patient notifications and follows payer guidelines to reduce denials; assists with daily deposits and routine financial tasks.
• Supports the Patient Access Services team with various duties as assigned and works under supervision in a high-volume environment.
