Atlantic Health Chilton Medical Center in Pompton Plains, NJ seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist for per diem coverage in the operating room. The role assists in aseptic technique, instrument handling, and patient transfer under RN supervision.

Per diem status implies variable shifts and on-call expectations as needed. Required certifications include NBSTSA or NCCT and BLS; an accredited surgical technology program completion is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate's degree in Surgical Technology or related field.
• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program preferred.
• Certification through NCCT or NBSTSA required.
• 1-2 years of experience as a Scrub Tech in a Hospital Setting preferred.
• BLS required.

Responsibilities

• Check and gather instruments for each case with surgeon's preference card.
• Check sterility tapes, dates, and wrapper integrity.
• Open sterile supplies, maintain sterile field, correct breaks in technique.
• Perform surgical scrub techniques and gown/glove for self and team.
• Arrange instruments, basins, sutures, and supplies for accurate count.
• Assist circulating nurses with counts of sponges and needles.
• Use devices and instruments appropriately and maintain sterile technique.
• Pass instruments to surgical team safely and efficiently.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Associate's degree in Surgical Technology or related field

Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program

Certification through NCCT or NBSTSA

1-2 years of experience as a Scrub Tech in a Hospital Setting
