Job summary

Mercy San Juan Medical Center in Carmichael, CA is seeking a Per Diem Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) to support a 370-bed, Level 2 trauma facility with multiple ORs. The role involves perioperative assessment, planning and delivering nursing care, collaboration with surgeons and anesthesiologists, and thorough documentation in HSM/Cerner systems.

Ideal candidates have 1 year OR or cardiac surgery experience, an active CA RN license, BLS, and availability for weekday, weekend, and holiday

Qualifications

• One year experience as a Registered Nurse in operating room or cardiac surgery in an acute care setting.
• Active RN license in California (CA).
• BLS certification - American Heart Association.
• Weekday, Weekend and Holiday rotations.
• Call required on nights and weekends with up to 30-minute response time.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient prior to entering the operating room and verify Universal Protocol.
• Plan and implement perioperative care in coordination with the surgeon and anesthesiologist.
• Assist surgeons with procedures and operate room equipment.
• Document care accurately in the EMR (HSM and Cerner).
• Provide leadership and coordinate with the care team to improve performance.
• Collaborate with care team to identify problem-solving approaches.
