Job summary

UNC Health is seeking per diem pharmacists with oncology or pediatric operational experience to support chemotherapy and infusion services at UNC Hospitals Cancer Infusion Services and Pediatric Pharmacy Services in North Carolina. The role involves staffing, medication interpretation, and collaborative patient care across multiple UNC facilities, with onsite responsibilities.

Candidates must hold a PharmD or BS in Pharmacy, be eligible for NC licensure, and be prepared for per diem scheduling

Qualifications

• PharmD or BS Pharmacy Degree.
• Active pharmacist licensure with the NC Board of Pharmacy or eligible before employment.
• No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

• Receives prescriptions, interprets prescriptions, and reviews the patient's medication profile/history.
• Provides optimal drug therapy recommendations and clinical interventions with the provider.
• Compounds and oversees preparation and dispensing of medications including sterile products.
• Ensures formulary compliance and therapeutic substitutions to optimize therapy and cost.
• Completes documentation in the medical record and related systems.
• Counsels patients and family members on pharmaceutical care issues.
• Directs shift workflow and supervises pharmacy staff on duty.
• Adheres to policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Identifies process improvements and participates in training staff.
